    • 5/18 NEH Preservation Assistance Grants for Smaller Institutions

      Through the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Preservation Assistance Grant (PAG) Program, your organization can apply for up to $6,000 funding for preservation assistance.

      Funding may provide: Preservation overview surveys, collection-level surveys or item-level surveys; long-term preservation plans; disaster preparedness and response plans; consultation to develop a plan to address a specific preservation problem; attendance at preservation workshops; purchase of preservation supplies, equipment and furniture.

      Grant Amount: Grants up to $6,000 will be awarded. No matching funds are required.

      Deadline: May 18, 2010

      Eligible Organizations: United States non-profit organizations; state and local government agencies.

      Applicants will be asked to describe the nature and significance of their collection. Institutions that have never received a National Endowment for the Humanities grant are encouraged to apply.

    • all month Save America's Treasures

      SAVE AMERICA's TREASURES

      Since 1999, Save America's Treasures grants have been used to save hundreds of collections and historic structures of national importance.  Administered by the National Park Service in partnership with the IMLS, NEH, and NEA, Save America's Treasures offers a very focused opportunity to obtain conservation treatment for important artifacts, collections, documents, monuments and works of art.  National significance is a threshold criterion.

      FUNDING MAY PROVIDE:  Save America's Treasures continues to welcome submissions for conservation treatment.  In addition to being of national significance, the collections must be in urgent need of treatment and the total project must show a clear public benefit.

      GRANT AMOUNT:  Organizations may apply for grants of $25,000 to $700,000.  A 1:1 non-Federal match is required.  Generally, awards for collections projects tend to be smaller than those for historic structures, falling into the $25,000 to $350,000 range.

      DEADLINE:  TK

      ELIGIBLE ORGANIZATIONS: Nonprofit organizations, units of state or local government, many federal agencies, and Indian tribes.

    • 8/12 NEA Access to Artistic Excellence grant

      Through the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Heritage & Preservation Grant Program, your organization can apply for up to $150,000 funding for projects that encourage and support artistic creativity, preserve our diverse cultural heritage, and make the arts more widely available in communities throughout the country.

      Funding may provide: Conservation and documentation projects, provenance research, collections management, reinstallation of collections, and public programs such as lectures, symposia, and community outreach

      Grant amount: $5,000 - $150,000

      Deadline: August 12, 2010

      Eligible Organizations: Non-profit organizations; state & local government agencies; federally recognized tribal communities.

    • all month IMLS American Heritage Grant

      Bank of America is partnering with the Institute of of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) to provide grants to small museums, libraries, and archives.  The grants will raise awareness and fund preservation of treasures held in small museums, libraries and archives. 

      Funding may provide: preservation of specific items, including works of art, artifacts and historical documents that are in need of conservation.

      Grant amount: Up to $3,000

      Deadline: TK 2010

    • all month IMLS Conservation Project Support Grant

      Through the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) Conservation Project Support Grant Program, your organization can apply for funding for conservation projects that identify conservation needs and priorities, and perform activities to ensure the safekeeping of your collections.

      Funding may provide: Conservation projects, including conservation treatment; collection-level or item-specific surveys; training; research; and environmental improvements.

      Grant amount: Up to $150,000; 1 to 1 match for total project request

      Deadline: TK

      Eligible Organizations: Museums, including many historic sites
