Sandra Phoenix

Executive Director, Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Library Alliance

With more than 30 years’ experience at nonprofit organizations and extensive project management experience, Sandra Phoenix is responsible for the overall operations of the HBCU Library Alliance. She provides leadership in developing strategic and financial planning; manages an organizational budget with the Board of Directors; manages and publicizes grant-related activities; and promotes active participation in projects by member institutions. Prior to assuming this role, Sandra served as Executive Services Librarian at LYRASIS, where she served as Project Manager for a two-year Gates Foundation Opportunity Online Grant project resulting in $1.7M grant funding. Sandra serves on the boards of the HBCU Faculty Development Network and the Kilombo Freedom School.
