Dear friends:

As we enter this season of thanksgiving, I am indeed grateful for the opportunity to serve as the newest Executive Director of the Conservation Center for Art & Historic Artifacts (CCAHA), and to build on our wonderful legacy as a partner to cultural heritage collections.  

There are so many ways in which CCAHA inspires me. If you, too, are excited about our work, please consider making a tax-deductible, end-of-year contribution to support our mission. 

I have been inspired by the ingenuity of our staff – using their deep knowledge and curiosity to address conservation challenges. The impact on clients who feared that their treasures were irreparable is profound: the sense of healing provided through the repair of vandalized art screens at the Shofuso Japanese Cultural Center, or the joy in seeing long-lost faces of friends after our conservator separated a stack of blocked (stuck) photographs, for the St. Placid Priory. 

I am equally moved by the passion with which our staff are helping organizations respond to climate change, social justice imperatives, and evolving technologies. Looking ahead to 2024, we are building partnerships to deliver new educational initiatives to support local communities in preserving their history. 

Over the past year, I have been so heartened by your engagement with our work. If you’ve joined a webinar, brought us a treatment project, shared our social media posts, or attended our Open House, you are part of a community which understands that art and documentary heritage are an important force for honoring identity and fostering mutual understanding. 

I hope you will help us expand CCAHA’s impact by making a gift today. Donations from individuals like you provide much-needed matching funds for grants that underwrite our varied programs, and also give us greater flexibility to experiment with new approaches to our conservation and preservation practice. Your support will also enable us to continue providing low-cost preservation consultation and free grant-writing assistance to small museums and archives; to host interns and fellows; and to conduct outreach to new audiences.
