
Amber Hares
As Book Conservator, Amber Hares meets with clients, assesses condition and treatment needs, documents findings in reports, and treats a wide variety of bound materials, from incunabula to 20th-century artists’ books. She also develops and presents programming related to book conservation and collections care.
Amber is a member of the American Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works (AIC), the Philadelphia Area Conservation Association (PACA), and the Delaware Valley Chapter of the Guild of Book Workers.
Before joining CCAHA in 2007, Amber worked as a bookbinder at the New Ridge Bindery and as Managing Editor at Afterimage. She served as the designer for the American Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works (AIC)’s Book and Paper Group Annual for a decade. She received her MFA in Visual Studies from the Visual Studies Workshop and a BFA from Asbury University.
