Fall Open House
.
The Conservation Center for Art & Historic Artifacts has been preserving our world’s cultural heritage here in Philadelphia since 1977. Our Open House is an opportunity to glimpse behind-the-scenes of the work that we do and to meet our skilled and knowledgeable staff. In our state-of-the-art lab, our expert conservators will share some of the exciting projects that they’ve been working on – whether they be rare books, unique works of art, or priceless historical documents. We treat practically anything paper-based, so there is always something new and remarkable to see. Our preservation services team will also be on hand to talk about the work that they do in supporting cultural institutions around the country and through education and outreach programs. We know that people learn best when things are fun so expect engaging activities and hands-on demonstrations as well!
Join us Thursday, October 10, from 5:00-7:30 PM by registering below. Light refreshments will be served.
Above: Two objects that will be featured in this year's Fall Open House. CCAHA Associate Conservation Technician Basia Nosek treats a nineteenth century Chinese pith painting (left), from the collections of the Science History Institute, and a large loss is examined on a 1768 map of present-day Mahwah, New Jersey, from the collections of the New Jersey State Archives. .
