Foundational Planning Program
This program is open to institutions with humanities collections that are available to the public on a regularly scheduled basis located anywhere in the United States. Through funding from the NEH, CCAHA is able to offer a limited number of assessments at no cost.
The goal of Foundational Planning is to provide an organization with a framework for institutional advancement with an emphasis on strengthening the organizational components necessary for optimal levels of collections stewardship.
Organizations will work with a CCAHA facilitator to virtually complete a collaborative SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) analysis that will form the foundation of the customizable plan. This first step lays the groundwork for creating a customized set of goals in the areas of preservation, collections management, resource development, and access and outreach. A second virtual session will allow key participants the opportunity to talk through priorities and timelines for accomplishing these goals in the next six months to two years. This plan will be used to build a report that describes current capacities and provides resources to accomplish identified goals. CCAHA staff will follow up with the organization at the six-month mark to discuss the implementation of the plan and make modifications as needed.
