CCAHA Out and About

While we welcomed guests into CCAHA for our Fall Open House this October, our staff were also busy out in the field — sharing expertise, connecting with communities, and strengthening relationships across the region.

At Bok Open Studios in South Philadelphia, Digital Preservation Specialist Kaitlyn Pettengill and Preservation Services Administrator Camilla Dawson introduced visitors to CCAHA’s free preservation resources and initiatives through interactive, hands-on activities.

We rarely get to see the impact of our work once it leaves the lab, so it was a special experience to attend a preview of the new Princeton University Art Museum. Senior Photograph Conservator Barbara Lemmen, Associate Photograph Conservator Ivey Barker, and Director of Business Development Daphne Mayer were delighted to see a photograph we had treated on display in the new galleries.

In Chester County, Preservation Specialist Katie Lowe visited Hershey’s Mill, an active adult community, to share practical advice on storing, handling, and displaying personal collections at home. Her presentation, Caring for Your Treasured Collections, is one of several topics offered through CCAHA’s Speakers Bureau. Through this program, our staff bring their expertise to community groups, clubs, and congregations, providing guidance on a wide range of preservation and conservation topics.

Capping off the month, Director of Conservation Jessica Silverman joined Michelle Impey of Chubb at the Chestnut Hill Conservancy for a session of the speakers series Ask the Experts: The Art of Protection. Their conversation focused on safeguarding collections through preventive care, risk preparedness, and informed insurance strategies.
