RACI Chart for Succession Planning
This Template supports Succession Planning by examining the division of labor between roles in a department or organization. By mapping out who is Responsible, Accountable, Informed and Consulted for and regarding various areas of work, the matrix can highlight areas of imbalance or need. Complete the template for your department or organization. The "Someone Else" category is included for where key functions are handled by other departments within the organization. Include all general responsibilities that should be addressed in order to deliver your organization's or department's mission. Complete one sheet for the way responsibilities are currently assigned, even if there are holes in the matrix. Then complete another form that makes reassignments or includes new roles for responsibilities that are not adequately handled, or where it is clear one position is shouldering too much. You can switch between sheets using the tabs labeled "Current" and "Ideal" below.
